So my baby finally decided to make an appearance last Monday, today he is one whole week old :)
24 hours of labour, born AT HOME (despite the MW's having a wobble at the last minute and calling an ambulance lol)
Full gory details when I have more than one hand free to type with.
for now....baby pic.... http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a54/Wi
No name yet, this seems to be bothering people quite a lot again, people really should have more important things to occupy their minds with lol
7/14 at birth, 8/2 today, to gain weight in first week is apparently unusual but this child is on the good stuff and feeds and feeds and feeds.
Dear baby,
I know it must be comfy in there but honestly the coast is clear, you can come out whenever you are ready!
Hmmm C tells me today his father has left him a mesage and said they are coming down with friends this weekend. I am quiet with rage. I have made it more than clear that he and his wife are not to be around while I am in labour and they are not to visit for 2 weeks afterwards. This is not just me being spiteful it is about us needing time to adjust and the fact that they are needy judgemental people who won't get off their arses to make tea etc but will whine about the washing up not being done blah blah. My mum at the opposite end of the scale would have cleaned the kitchen while making everyone else tea, this I can cope with lol
His suggestion which I can just about do is to meet them at the beach Sun am take the dogs for a walk and leave when I have had enough lol They are always late and as I said 'needy' and I have no intention of hanging a whole day around them, 'be at the beach at a certain time and if your late then tough' suits me.
I have said that if I go into labour before then/during weekend they will not be visiting us while they are here, C says 'of course, obviously' I say, I'm just making it very obvious so there can be no misunderstanding! I will do all the talking if he's uncomfortable expressing my wishes lol Although the thought of them being around is enough to metaphorically put a cork in it anyway pmsl. Arghhh.
I've been doing 'optimal foetal positioning' this candidly also goes by the name of the 'cat position' AKA stick your arse in the air lol
Still half excited, half terrified.
MW visit again today and again someone different. She was like a little mouse and I kept having visions of feeding her cheese.....
Anyway all OK, she said head is engaged but not by how much and the cheese visions distracted me enough that I forgot to ask her lol
Bastard toothache again though, no appointment until Friday, I'm trying to limit my painkiller intake but just had to take some last night before bed and then when their effect wore off I had to get up at 2.30am to take more. I've managed to distract myself today so far but I think I will have to take more to get to sleep.
Off to Torchwood and knitting.
Had growth scan and as I knew all was OK, but I did get the sonographer to see if she could see the DRP's problems with the kidneys and she said it looked like it was all clear, so that was good, I guess I'll still have to go to hospital post birth to get him checked out/scanned as that wasn't an official/documented result though.
Pretty much all ready to go now, trouble is I keep seeing things I'd like to buy but can't really justify it as we pretty much have everything we need lol
Finally got a cot on budget from the local classified section of the paper and it is set up ready for 'furniture moving part 2' (already re-arranged half the bedroom) so it can be ajoined to my side of the bed :)
Indigestion has struck over the last couple of days but I guess eating lots of chilli/tomato type foods isn't helping matters much. Am craving welsh cakes but not sure if they will work in our frying pan, I need a proper bakestone!
Been knitting lots of nappy covers and K a jumper, it's a simple pattern but so simple it is tedious, but I've done so much now I refuse to give up on it.
Scan booked for 29th Jan - so not desperately urgent then lol
4 weeks ish to go. Panic mode begins.
Forgot to post that I have to go for a growth scan as the MW says I am measuring small. I will go so I can try to sneak a question or 2 in about the kidneys but she didn't even use a tape just palpated. I used a tape when I got home and the measurements were pretty much bang on the average chart that they say is their guide. She said she was just trying to cover all her arse so we'll see what happens. I am hugely paranoid about going to hospital now, I think theya re just looking for an excuse....
Courtesy of someone at Carl's work we've all had norovirus. Blah. Evil evil thing.
All gone now and every surface I may have touched has been washed down with tea tree oil and vinegar, the light switches have never been so clean lol
Had a MW appointment eventually as I'd cancelled the prior one due to having to be wed to the loo. Seems I am the talk of the midwifery service. Head of Midwifery and Supervisor of Midwives have had to go on record to say they cannot support my choices and there is no policy for me to read as one isn't in existence lol The MW had been told to tell me I was to see the consultant again, I told her to write on my notes that she had informed me of their wishes and I was declining their most generous offer lol
Idiots, I am too far along physically and emotionally to be having a meeting with someone who will just piss me off. There is no new research they can magic up and I really am not going to waste my time (or theirs) discussing the matter.
Ordered some lovely hand dyed wool described as 'rust' and it's got loads of bloody pink in it arghhh. I'm not against boys/pink but I am against ME/pink! Made new baby more wool shorties/wrap and had my first attempt at duplicate stitch. Was OK ish but it just highlighted how dark this cottage is, I need to look out on freecycle for some kind of angleable spotlight that I could put a daylight bulb in maybe.....
Spent half of today with no water but it's back on now, goodness knows what happened there, it was dark brown and stank of rotten eggs when it spluttered back down the pipes.
Meant to be getting some more chickens from a neighbour over the fields, pet ones for K really as opposed to ones for eggs, just got to salvage some old pallets to make a house as we burnt all of our old ones.
Got my MA notification through but no date of when it will start replenishing my scary loking overdraft.
I have finally got back into Ravelry and am trying to update it a little. I am rubbish at taking pics of things though.
Dr Poo is on but C will want to watch it later as he's putting K to bed so I shall wait.
Yule was something and nothing (between FIL and sicklyness not a lot happened), xmas day has been blah. C has got progressively more ill and feeble as the day has worn on so the dinner I cooked was pointless apart from enjoying it myself of course! No gifts as no ££ not even little token ones this year, thought I wouldn't be bothered but I am, I am a child and like pressies lol Kailen had a bike and some wooden animals which he loved. We went for a lovely long walk on the beach just before lunch, gorgeous sunny day if a bit nippy!
The moonlight is pouring into the front room though, so bright I've turned the lights off :)
